Peace in not an Illusion; it is a Human Possibility.
Let us camp and campaign for peace on the ground in Africa, across may
countries that are still in active violence, latent
conflicts or recovering from conflict and war. This must be done
by Africans themselves for Africa. Experience remains a good teacher.
It has taught us that no outsider can bring peace to us. We must make the work
for peace our job and a calling. It is so nobble a cause that we can
choose to live and die for. After all, we have known war and conflict and
we have paid our prices in all their forms and nature. We have choices to make.
Whether to keep running or to stop running, relax and build our continent. We
either learn to work for peace on perish in war. Indeed, in the words of Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit: “the more we sweat in
peace, the less we bleed in war.” We are tired of bleeding in war; we must
be ready to sweat in building peace on our continent. Even if we have known war
and conflict for so long that peace seems so distant, we must be ready to
unlearn and conceive of peace as a reality. Peace in not an illusion;
it is a human possibility.
Peace in not an Illusion; it is a Human Possibility.
