Why it is Convenient for Uhuru to edit Jaramogi from Kenya’s History
Was it not
Kibaki and Matiba who disrupted Jaramogi Oginga Odinga's chances of clinching
the presidency in 1992? Yes, Moi did it through them after Jaramogi's
popularity through FORD became a clear threat to Moism. And then the tragedy
befell Kenya since 1997. All Kenyans who have gone to vote over this period
only vote largely either to take Jaramogi's son to the presidency or prevent
him from ever becoming president. These other stories are just that. Stories.
Doesn't it then make sense how Uhuru Kenyatta who was then leader of official
opposition turned around to support Mwai Kibaki, the incumbent, in 2007? How
was it possible for Uhuru and Ruto to unite against all odds in 2013 even
having been accused of murdering either community's members in 2007 over a fight
for or against the son of Jaramogi? Why then does it become anything strange
that the Jubilee government under Uhuru Kenyatta is attempting to edit Jaramogi
Oginga Odinga out of Kenya's history?
What Uhuru Kenyatta is attempting to do, strange as it is, is not new in the history of world politics. It is indeed the case that politicians do edit history to suit them. Recently Uganda's Museveni edited Kizza Besigye from the struggle for the liberation of Uganda.
