Jubilee Should Spare us this Sick Raila Age Debate and Deliver on its Mandate
President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria was
elected at 72, Ghanaian president-elect Nana Akufo-Addo has been elected at 71.
Still some people are busy roaming around here campaigning on the ground that
Odinga is too old and should retire. I mean how wrong can they be? The old man
is 71 and his age mates are becoming presidents even in the US! Old people are
beating younger incumbents in Africa. Instead of telling us all the bad things
about Raila Odinga and how tired and old he is, Uhuruto should simply work. Salvage health
situation, tackle runway corruption, deal with youth unemployment, fix
governance issues, fix wastage in government, ensure rule of law prevails and
deal with ongoing violations of basic human rights and fundamental freedoms,
reform education system, address informal (jua kali) sector issues, end hunger
and starvation, fix the infrastructure, enhance agriculture and value addition,
clean our cities, create an enabling environment for industrial and
manufacturing and businesses to emerge and thrive etc etc. I mean government
should realize that it has too much to do. Instead of all these, we have a
government that is too preoccupied and obsessed with Raila, I mean how often
does Uhuru and Ruto mention the word Raila in their meetings?
