Memories of Violence and Pre-Rigging of the Kikuyu Vote in the Rift Valley

And so in the run up to the 2022 general elections in which William Samoe arap Ruto from the Rift Valley is a front-runner memories of the post-election violence (PEV) of 2007-8 becomes a calculated political tactic. Reminds me of the argument advanced by Nic Cheesman and Brian Klaas on "How to Rig and Election" in which book they have elaborated on the use of violence as a political strategy. So, one of the various ways through which politicians use calculated violence as a political strategy is by deployment of intense violence that shocks the conscience of people and remain edged in people's minds for a very long time. This way all the politician does is pretty simple, remind the people about it whenever they are due to make free political choices (speciafically elections). I mean an ordinary Kikuyu man or woman residing in the Rift Valley either remembers and/or shall be reminded about the PEV in the run up to 2022 elections and then he/she will be left to make choices based on that memory. That too is election rigging!
