Corporate Heads are Often only Interested in Nothing but Profits

In his tribute to Bob Collymore (RIP) Mr. Boniface Mwangi, a Kenyan activist, indicated that the late Collymore fell out with him (Mwangi) over the latter’s activism. I am not surprised that that was actually the case. You see, when you are a functionary of the toxic neoliberal Capitalism your mind is engineered towards nothing but profit; you think profit, breathe profit, work for profit, turn everything including sad human conditions into situations of profit making etc. These kinds of people hate activism because it suffocates space for profit making. They lazily talk about human rights and good governance here and there (you recall those state house summits on corruption?) but are actually in bed with and even finance governments to suppress human rights and basic freedoms especially if and when doing so enhances their prospects for profit-making. That is how Safaricom is deeply involved in things like election rigging. They are largely status-quoists who actually loathe activism. And if you see them engaging in charities and all these other so called social corporate responsibility crap and so on, it is almost entirely because such events boost their corporate image and enhances profit prospects.
